3 Games You Can't Live Without
So I was flipping through some old issues of Electronic Gaming Monthly and came across some interesting, albeit outdated stuff from E3 '05. In it was an interview from none other than Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame. Now, he's irrelevant, but the interview asks what 3 games would he take with him if he were to be forever stranded on a deserted island. So I decided to ask myself the same question. 3 games you say? That's easy, I thought, but then I realized it was otherwise. It's a tough question, and I'm asking everybody here too. Me? Well...
1) Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time (PS2) - This was one of my first real RPGs that I played through and I loved every minute of it. The battle system was imperfect in ways, but it was challenging nonetheless. The best part I found was in synthesizing your own custom weapons and armor. The depth is just immeasurable in what you can create, especially since this is the only way to max out your stats, by thinking of the best and most unique combos. The graphics have aged respectfully as far as PS2 games go, and the music is top notch too. Add that with all of the extra bosses you can fight at the end, whose HPs will number in the millions, and I'm sold for this game. It was the first game outside of Pokemon that I accumulated 100+ hours of game play time.
2) Halo: Combat Evolved (XBOX) - It's more for the memories than anything else. Me and my friends loved playing co-op FPS games, and Halo was the best thing that came after Perfect Dark. Also, it was the first game that actually made us feel like bad asses when we played it on the highest difficulty. And the formula is perfect. Space marine fight space aliens and saves the world from space zombies. That's a formula for trigger happy fragging. However, Halo CE was also the first FPS where running and gunning wouldn't solve all of the problems either on Legendary, you actually had to think to survive, especially if it was your first play through on that difficulty. Of course, the multiplayer was good too. The highlight of those good ol' days was when we played Bloodgulch with sniper rifles. I got a phone call from my mom on my cell, answered the call, put her on hold, gave my friend a headshot - who had on camouflage, and continued the conversation.
3) Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Genesis) - Me and my sister would always play this game together, endlessly, for hours. Sometimes, I'd get headaches because I'd been playing for 4 hours straight, a great deal for an 5 year old. The music's some of best of all the Genesis games, as far as I'm concerned, just below STH3, and the gameplay was about the highlight of Sonic's career during that time. I guess I've just spent so many hours on that game, that every little detail is memorable in its own way. I should be surprised that even after all of these years, I can still mentally map about the entirety of every nook and cranny of each level. Good times.
So what about everyone else?

Hrm... only three? Damn...
Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast) -- I lost hours upon hours of my life to this game, and I loved every second of it. It was tons of fun (sans Rouge and Knuckles, those annoyed me), and it just never got old. This really would be a pick just for the memories of it. And it was what really made me a gamer, not anything I played before it (other Sonic games are good, don't get me wrong, just didn't turn me into a gamer).
MTV Skateboarding (Dreamcast) -- Funny how skating games become a huge part of your gaming library, huh? This game was all about the music for me. Sure, gameplay wasn't the best out there, but damn did I have loads of fun wasting more time with this when I wasn't playing SA2. This game didn't help make me a gamer, not at all. I played it because it was almost Tony Hawk, but the music from that game is what turned me to more modern stuff (before hand, I was a child of the 80s, music-wise).
House of the Dead II (Dreamcast) -- This game is what made me love zombie games. I mean, who hasn't it done that for? And if it hasn't, then you haven't played yet. This would, again, be for memories. I had the laser gun and everything. It was loads of fun, and I owned at this game. With or without the gun. I could own most of my friends when I was using the controller and they were using my only gun. I'd have to say, this game gave me the ability to have the reaction time that I do for any FPS that I've every played, even though they played completely differently. Great game, and lots of laughs and scares (back in the day, of course) were had with this game.
Funny how my three games are all DC. I loved that old system. Miss it whole lots too. Was the first one that I owned personally, since my mom bought it for me. Didn't own another system until a year before the XBOX went out, and the 360 came in.

I'm not too sure if emulated games count, so I'll stray from them.
1. Beatles Rockband(Wii) I can't live without my daily dose of John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. Whether it's this game, or bring my turntable, I need Beatles.
2. Sonic Unleashed (Wii) I think this is one of the best post 2005 Sonic games. With the combination of speed and fun platforming, you can't go wrong.
3. Sonic Rush (Nintendo DS) What can I say? It's classic Sonic 2D gameplay at it's finest for a modern Sonic game.

Hmmmm lemme see...
1. Sonic CD
Ain't news. Big part of the people love Sonic CD because of the tracks and the Sonic 1 feeling.
2. Halo: Reach
Do I seriously have to explain? Well, actually, I became a Halo fan (OKAY I ADMIT! I AM A FANBOY) after reading th first book, "The Fall of Reach", and understanding where it all began. And then you see what Spartans are all about. If you take it to the emotional way, it's all about partnership, sacrifice, whatever. And this game is a complete work of art.
3. Mirror's Edge
Aside from saying PARKOUR ROCKS!!!!, this game sucks when you're new to playing it. You will die like, at every 5 minutes (or less than that). But if you persist, you'll see how beautiful it is. The cops' chase parts are absolutely awesome. Not to mention that disarm with a wallrun kick that I was only able to do once in the game... but seriously, the plot is good, although it was a bit confusing to me that I had to replay it at least 3 times to get the whole story (I'm fluent in English, but the tons of slangs made me really confused. And after all, can anyone explain what's the "Joe" in the frase "Did you just do what I think you did? God damn it, girl, I just split my Joe all over the keyboard!"? lol
Don't believe me? A gameplay video shall be enough for you. Just look for it on youtube ;D

@LH_The_Hedgehog
I believe "Joe" in that cognition would be referring to a Mug of Coffee. I'll be posting my list here in a second, I just have think over what games that I feel would fit in this list.

I would have to say Banjo Kazzoie for being the greatest 3D platformer of all time.
Sonic CD because without it I wouldn't be where I am today.
Knights of the Old Republic for being my favorite RPG.
