If the characters aren't clones and I have the commitment (and resources) to do it, than why not?

Actually I'd hand over that award to Naruto Ninja Way. The game has a full team and online matches. Check that out while you're waiting for Demo 3 XD.
Anyway,I might as well do a text-based update till I gather more screenshots to show - There will be 3 new characters for the next demo and will have considerably different playing styles. I will eventually put up a poll of candidates so you lot can choose who the third new challenger is.
- All the arenas have been re-looked over and even now stages are getting enhancements. These range from graphical tweaks, hazards, and multi-stage areas. More on those later.
- The character select menu is going to be redone again. It will allow you to quickly choose you're match setup in any vs mode (this includes tag team), see all the available characters without having to scroll around, and set up battle options (like handicaps, which were already programmed).
- Thanks to the new, smarter, faster, and more efficient AI system, I can start work on training modes and tag modes when everything else is ready.
Thats all for now. Another update will come it's way soon.

actually sonic battle 3 by bluehog is a better (and complete.)
However this game is really fun, and i like how they have both battle and adventure mode mixed in one.

Actualy, I disagree. SSK is by far smoother and has alote more fetures. But I think Bluehog's Game and PSB's game Share the same qualitys.

Sorry about the lack of updates people (From both SSK and STi in general). The school year has started again and I've been taking strides to stay ahead this year.
UPDATE: 15/09/2008
I've most recently been re-developing the character select menu. There are several reasons for this. The first is design consistancy, secondly to make it more user friendly, and finally to give the menu more options. - The first attachment shows what you will come across when you enter the menu. You can have a choice of a 2-player match, or 2 varieties of tag-team match (vs and co-op). There will also be a handicap option that you can adjust here. The handicap limits have been decided as 10% - 200%.
- The second attachment shows another WIP screen of actual character selection. This is the 4th time this menu has been changed (though this is the smallest change so far).
Another update in around a week. Did I hear someone say tutorials?

I guess you are right that sonic knockout is somewhat smoother, but sonic battle 3 fighting is fun because it is somewhat unique. I love super sonic knockout though as well.

UPDATE: 22/09/2008
I'm still working out some extra tidbits in the Character Select menu, but it's worth it though. The transitions are so smooth and look really nice with the *** ******* ********.
Recently I had noticed some MAJOR slowdown in several of the stages. The closer I was to the middle of the level, the more lag there seemed to be. I eventually found out this was an error in the deactivation code where the area where objects are allowed to activate became stupidly huge, thus giving the game about 1200 objects to process XD.
Thankfully that problem is fixed now. The game maintains a solid 30 fps throughout and is now the amount of active objects never exceeds 200. That kind of news makes me very happy indeed.
By next week I should have something awesome to let you play... and it's NOT Demo 3...
